Los Angeles is a city with a rich history and culture, and its name has a special meaning. The initials of the city, L. A., stand for Los Angeles, which translates to “The Town of the Queen of Angels” in Spanish. Los Angeles has relied on its own river for water since it was founded as a small settlement in the late 18th century. To this day, it has a system of reservoirs and open ditches, as well as canals to irrigate nearby fields.
As part of the creative industry in the region, the four major broadcast television networks—ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC—have production facilities and offices in various areas of Los Angeles. The city is also home to the largest port complexes in the Western Hemisphere, which process more than 40 percent of the products that enter and leave the United States and directly and indirectly provide hundreds of thousands of middle-class jobs to the region.The Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), located in downtown Los Angeles, is a world-class convention and exhibition center equipped with sunny spaces and technology to meet all meeting needs.
